Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Jun. 10

 Here are today's contestants:

- Josh Fry, a software developer originally from Peachtree Corners, Georgia;

- Aaron Lemos, a high school video production teacher from Northridge, California; and

- Adriana Harmeyer, an archivist from West Lafayette, Indiana. Adriana is an eight-day champ with winnings of $183,100.

Jeopardy!

CAPITALS & THEIR AIRPORTS // BUNNY LIT // WELL, THAT HAPPENED // TIME FOR SOME DRUGS // DUETS WITH DADS // FIND "OUT"

DD1 - $800 - CAPITALS & THEIR AIRPORTS - King Khalid International is its gateway (Josh lost  $2,800 on a true DD.)

Scores at first break: Adriana $3,800, Aaron $2,000, Josh $2,800.

Scores entering DJ: Adriana $3,000, Aaron $1,600, Josh $1,600.

Double Jeopardy!

SENATE HISTORY // THE ANIMAL KINGDOM // MONUMENTS & MEMORIALS // THERE'S GOLD IN YOUR FUTURE // THEY DIRECTED THEMSELVES // EMOTIONS

DD2 - $1,200 - MONUMENTS & MEMORIALS - The Washington D.C. area memorial to this service branch depicts a flag-raising on Mount Suribachi (Adriana added $1,500 to her total of $9,800 vs. $5,600 for Josh.)

DD3 - $1,600 - THE ANIMAL KINGDOM - Rats must gnaw constantly because these teeth whose name means "cutter" grow their whole lives, around 4-5 inches per year (Josh added $1,500 to his score of $7,200 vs. $10,500 for Adriana.)

Josh had a golden opportunity to take first place from the eight-day champ on DD3, but inexplicably made a tiny bet, so he had to settle for second going into FJ with $10,700 vs. $12,100 for Adriana and $1,600 for Aaron.

Final Jeopardy!

NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEWS - In 1958 a review of this book now considered a classic called it repulsive, disgusting & "highbrow pornography"

Only Adriana was correct on FJ, adding $9,500 to win with $21,600 for a nine-day total of $204,700.

Final scores: Adriana $21,600, Aaron $0, Josh $9,299.

Wagering strategy: Josh did make an appropriately small wager on FJ, giving himself the chance to win if Adriana missed without having to be correct himself. It's surprising how, after all these years, we still see many contestants in a similar position make the mistake of going big.

Judging the producers: They nicely offset the more time-consuming guest presenter category with plug at the end with the one about directors that had very brief clues.

Correct Qs: DD1 - What is Riyadh? DD2 - Who are the Marines? DD3 - What are incisors? FJ - What is "Lolita"?
