Our Top Pick tonight is the finale of The Sympathizer (HBO & Max, 9 p.m.). No, it's not related to The Equalizer. The miniseries is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen about a North Vietnam plant (Hoa Xuande) sent to the South Vietnam army during the war and ends up coming to the United States afterward and while still spying, becomes conflicted on his allegiances. It's also got Robert Downey Jr. in 4 different roles. (He hasn't had an Emmy nomination since Ally McBeal.) I'm enjoying it, but I'm also not caught up.
