What's On Tonight (Sunday): Toxic slime

Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV

O kodwa you zo-nge li-sa namhlange! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, March 17!

Our Top Pick tonight is Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV (Investigation Discovery & Max, 9 p.m.). This two-night, 4-hour documentary event series examines the toxic culture of children's shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s, especially the Dan Schneider shows of Nickelodeon. This was an era that saw the debuts of Ariana Grande, Miranda Cosgrove, Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, and Austin Butler. On Disney Channel, there was Shia LaBeouf, Hilary Duff, Raven-SymonΓ©, Ashley Tisdale, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez. (Read Jennette McCurdy's autobiography.) This show is higher profile because Drake Bell has some important things to say about his time as a child star.

Elsewhere, PBS is still calling the Midwife, Helena Bonham Carter is a soap star, Tournament of Champions begins its sweet 16, Tracker tracks a teenager, Domhnall Gleeson and Andrea Riseborough have a long history, Paul Simon has Dreams, and The Regime wants land reform.
