We've got a lot of business to cover and God is watching again and I don't want a smiting.
The Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff has informed the IDF that the US will not accept mass casualties in Rafah and laid out a somewhat reasonable plan to get Israel out without a complete genocide. [Times of Israel]
This seems unlikely. Israel's response to being told by the UN to allow humanitarian aid into Rafah is to double down on calling for the destruction of UNRWA, the only realistic source of aid to Gaza. [Guardian]
Meanwhile other countries have conducted their own inquiries and found that Israel is using this as an excuse to control the flow of aid and furthering the apartheid and so have renewed the funding of UNWRA. The airlifts that have tried to bridge the gap have been tragic. Not enough food. People drowning trying to get to it, etc. [Times of Israel]
Meanwhile just about everyone in Israel wants Netanyahu gone. Even parents of hostages are blaming him for holding up their release. [Guardian]
We're past genocide now. We've got a new word to learn: Ecocide. When Netanyahu says that the Gazans moved their tents down to Rafah they can move them back up. First of all, the Gazans had houses and those houses are gone. And so is everything else. [Guardian]
I've avoided using Al Jazeera just as I've avoided using NYT. There are expected social conditioning that colors the journalism. But this is an important point and, as an amateur historian, one that's pertinent to me. It's not just the Palestinians that are being killed but Palestinian culture. This drives me nuts because Jewish culture has suffered so much erasure. It's also why that tent comment was so galling. [Al Jazeera]
Never fear. We have not forgotten the great orange devil. UK judges have less patience with him than US judges. I still want to see him rot in a Scottish prison but this will do for now. [CNN]
And then there's the shirtless devil. Sweden is moving fast into NATO. They're looking at sending a bunch of fancy, flexible fighter jets to Ukraine. [Army Recognition]
Political Discussion welcome.
