S.W.A.T./Fire Country/Blue Bloods |
I don't watch a lot of broadcast TV, and what few broadcast shows I do watch I stream. You know who does watch broadcast TV? My octogenarian uncle, and he is a fan of CBS Friday nights. He's not necessarily that big on S.W.A.T. or Fire Country, though he likes them, but those are just the appetizers leading up to the Blue Bloods main course. My uncle is all about the 'stache. I don't have the heart to tell him it's the final season but given that he usually falls asleep before finishing an episode, I might not ever have to.
TOP PICK
⭐ 👮♂️ S.W.A.T. (CBS, 8:00 PM) SEASON SEVEN PREMIERE.
⭐ 🔥 Fire Country (CBS, 9:00 PM) SEASON TWO PREMIERE.
⭐ 👮♂️ Blue Bloods (CBS, 10:00 PM) SEASON FOURTEEN PREMIERE.
Elsewhere...
*The Abyss is premiering on Netflix today. No, not that The Abyss. This The Abyss is about a Swedish town that is sinking because of overmining. The original The Abyss had miners too. Is it possible this The Abyss is just a stealth remake of the original The Abyss? If there are glowy-jellyfish-looking-but-rigid aliens at the bottom of the mine, James Cameron gonna sue somebody.
*Jennifer Lopez stars in and helped develop a new film called This is Me... Now: A Love Story. If the title isn't enough to turn you off, it appears to be some sort of concept video album featuring numerous songs and some sort of loose storyline (something about Lopez being a sex addict). Still interested? No sign of Ben Affleck in the trailer so maybe he managed to dodge this bullet.
*Don't tell Christopher Nolan, but Oppenheimer starts streaming this week. Luckily for Nolan, it's on Peacock, so nobody is going to watch it that way anyhow.
*Apple has a new sports docuseries, The Dynasty: New England Patriots, that looks at the franchise's golden age. There are interviews with Bill Belichik, Tom Brady and Robert Kraft. I don't know much about this series, but one thing is for certain: if Kraft is involved, it will definitely have a happy ending.
