What's On Tonight (Sunday): Funny Woman, walkin' down the street, Funny Woman, the kind I like to meet

Funny Woman

Allo! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, January 7!

Our Top Pick tonight is the newest import Funny Woman (PBS, 10 p.m.). The dramedy, based on the Nick Hornby book Funny Girl (published 3 years before The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel premiered), follows Barbara Parker (Gemma Arterton ), now going by the stage name Sophie Straw, upon her arrival in 1960s London. A beauty queen, she makes it big in sitcoms but is always at odds with the industry's male dominance. As with all PBS' dramas, the show will air weekly, but all episodes are available at 10 p.m. with PBS Passport.

Elsewhere, the Globes might be free of racism, America still isn't out of Home Videos, Jon Hamm is the world's greatest detective, Gypsy Rose Blanchard gives her final ConfessionsAll Creatures matter, America has the Worst Cooks, and Smithsonian goes an Extreme Airport.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)
