How deep does the gun cult run in the US? So deep that cartels in Mexico are getting guns from Racine, WI so they can send fentanyl back up here. Mexico suffers more from this than we do. And there's two ways that we can stop this. There are no gun sales in Mexico and possession is illegal. We need to be checking the flow in the other direction at the border. Keep our "toys" in our own toy box. We also need free and decent rehab for anyone who wants it. The less demand for drugs on our side the less reason for supply over there. That's the only way that we will break the cartels. By the way there is a map of Mexico in the link that shows the number of guns confiscated in each state. The deep red one on the right is Tamaulipas and that's where I'm spending New Year's with family. [Reuters]

Here are twin stories. This is what the rest of the world is seeing and why Israel and the US are losing friends. I know, Hamas started this round, but you know what? Hamas is getting what they want and if they Israeli government gets what they want then they will be monsters just like Hamas. They both need to go. We tried playing together and that didn't work and each side said the other broke the ceasefire first. And that will never change with these people in power.

First up, according to the UN, half the people in Gaza are starving. That death toll is going to skyrocket if something isn't done soon. [BBC]

What is not going to help is sending Israel more ammo. If they're running out of tank ammo it's because they've already made Gaza uninhabitable. You know who really needs that ammo right now? Ukraine. If the State Department was going to use extraordinary measures to supply anyone it should have been Ukraine. The GOP vows that Ukraine will get no more aid but they can and will be moved on Israel. [CBS]

Ever wonder where those Supreme Court decisions come from? They used to be derived from established fact. Now they're more likely to be based on amici curiae or friends of the court briefs, often quoted directly like in Dobbs. Opposing counsel does not get to respond to these briefs and there simply isn't time when there can be 100 briefs filed. And guess who files the most briefs. [MSNBC]
