What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Burn baby burn! Burn that mother down y'all

Nova: Ancient Earth

Life will find a way! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, October 25!

Our Top Pick tonight is the continuing 5-part science miniseries Nova: Ancient Earth (PBS, 9 p.m.). Produced by the BBC, Ancient Earth tells the billions-of-years-long story of how life came to be on the planet, from a barren rock to a frozen surface to the dawn of humans. I've been liking it a lot. Tonight's episode looks at a series of volcanic eruptions 252 million years ago that caused Earth's greatest extinction event ("The Great Dying") and how life managed to bounce back. If you wanna catch up, episodes are even released on YouTube.

Elsewhere, David Oyelowo has grief, Nature becomes a voyeur under the sea, Morgan Freeman tell us a history of Life, Invasion is risky, Chucky attends a ball, Quantum Leap goes to Hollywood, Colbert talks to Talking Heads, and Fluffy spins the Wheel.
