Billions |
[*Carl Sagan voice*] Billions and billions! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, October 29!
Our Top Pick tonight is the series finale of Billions (Showtime, 8 p.m.). Um, that show was still around? Indeed it was. (We say that a lot about Showtime shows.) This drama started out as a feud between U.S. Attorney Paul Giamatti and hedge fund manager/philanthropist Damian Lewis and was inspired by various real-life federal prosecutions of financial crime. 7 seasons later, Lewis is running for president and Giamatti is still after him. I think? I bailed after season 2.
Elsewhere, The Simpsons makes a documentary ("Treehouse of Horror" is next week), David Oyelowo lays down the law, 60 Minutes talk to the Veep, there's a party in Krapopolis, we live in a Gilded Age again, Discovery goes to The Garden, Fright Fight finds a winner, and video games Built America.

π₯π Joyeux Noel (Hallmark Channel): During the long, grueling War of the Second Noel, Gen. Hans Trapp is called away from the front by Krampus. In his place, some soldiers begin to wonder about the war, which in this case in fought just within the borders of Evergreen. On the opposing front, dug into the mountains, the soldiers fighting for Christmasia and its allies wonder the same thing because their provinces were friendly with those of the Federation only a few years ago -- before the Klaubauf Crusades. Some groups, led by Olenzie, formally known as Olentzero II and son of the great General Olentzero of the War of the First Noel, decide they will celebrate their nation's birthday. Since the country is still young, many songs are rooted in folklore songs of the various peoples, especially the pixies, nisse, elves, and leprechauns. It doesn't take long before they hear other familiar songs from the other side, after all, this was a peaceful continent with a free exchange of ideas not long ago. Causously, the two side gather on the front and drink together. However, the pleasantness only lasts a short while as Trapp returns, and the peaceful brotherhood becomes a warring battlefield.
