Footballs, volleyballs, baseball and PUPPIES!
Haley Van Voorhis became the first woman to play in an NCAA football game who was not a kicker. She played safety and earned a hurrying the quarterback during a winning game. [Oregon Live]
I wouldn't mind if this became a weekly feature. The University of Wisconsin women trounced Indiana in straight sets. Indiana fields a good team but they couldn't match the Badgers. [UW Badgers]
You want polls? We got polls. Notre Dame fell out of the top ten bust still sits on top of Alabama. USC dropped three slots after an embarrassing loss to Stanford. All the Big 10 teams that I hate are doing well. Michigan is #2, THE Ohio State is #4 and Penn State is #6. Northwestern is missing altogether but I just hate their football program. The university is great. I liked them better when they were the Big 10's doormat because the team was all liberal arts kids who were in it for the fun. For what it's worth, Wisconsin is the only other Big 10 team to receive votes although I haven't seen anything to justify that yet.
Oh, and then Georgia's still on top. [Associated Press]
The Oakland A's have the worst record in the American League by far and yet there's an argument about where they'll be down the road. People actually want them. I can't imagine why. [Mercury News]
