Politics Corner July 7th

I'm writing this early because I will have a dinner guest who will stay late. She's dropping her daughter off to see a concert at Summerfest which is just down the hill from us so she'll wait here. It won't be over until at 11 CDT or so, so just in case the world ends between now and then you'll find out when I do. I think she's seeing this guy.

For a little more understanding of why WI Gov. Tony Evers needs to get creative with his vetoes. Republican legislators continually vote against their own interests and that of their constituents. Evers could protect the schools because he could take out numbers and hyphens. But there was another proposal in the budget that would have helped smaller communities across the state gain access to federal money. It was shot down on a party line. And Evers can't add something in that isn't there already. [Wisconsin Watch]

Sen. Dick Durban, chair of the Senate Judiciary committee is going after Chief Justice John Roberts over egregious ethics lapses. This is going no where. The worst case is Justice Clarence Thomas and he'll never be brought up for impeachment in the House and he'll never retire. So it's mostly political theater. I'm fine with that. When Dems are angry they turn out for elections. [Guardian]

More stuff that we learned about the case against Trump this week. [Vox]
