The US Supreme Court handed down a couple of good decisions this week and one really horrifying one. If you are in prison because a Federal Court convicted you of something that isn't a federal crime or if you were sentenced to more than the maximum for your crime (and this includes death) it's too bad. Federal Courts don't make mistakes and your innocence doesn't matter. Clarence Thomas wrote the decision so you know that it's even worse than it could have been. [Slate]
