I was going to share a feel good story about trans murder victims in Milwaukee. They'll be paid attention to now! Maybe!
But this story just grabbed me and broke my heart. I grew up in farm country and I was surrounded by people who spoke Spanish. It was common for my friends parents or grandparents to only speak Spanish. I think I understood migrant labor before I ever heard the term.
What happened in this story was undeniably an accident but blame was laid at the foot of an innocent, grieving father because no one bothered to find out what happened. They don't speak English - what would they have to say? [ProPublica]
