What's On Tonight (Friday): All the Tiny Beautiful Things, True Care, Truth Brings......

Tiny Beautiful Things

Nothing much that interests this week, but Kathryn Hahn is heading a new series on Hulu so I'm going with that for Top Pick.

I'm not saying there isn't some potentially good stuff premiering this week, just that even the stuff that looks good isn't what I'm in the market for right now.

Top Pick

๐Ÿ”” Tiny Beautiful Things (Hulu, 12:01 AM) LIMITED SERIES. 'When we first meet Clare, her marriage to her husband Danny is on its last leg. Her daughter, Rae, will barely talk to her. And her once-promising writing career is non-existent. So, when an old writing friend suggests she take over as the advice columnist Dear Sugar, she thinks she's the last person for the job. But after reluctantly agreeing, she realizes that she might just be completely qualified.  Starring Kathryn Hahn.'

Elsewhere...

*Freevee has a new reality comedy series about a guy who is a juror who doesn't realize that the whole case is fake and everyone around him is an actor.  James Marsden plays himself.  I don't know how they can sustain this for a whole season but they have my curiosity.

*Netflix has the latest spin on the E.T. formula with Chupa.  Here's the key thing Chupa is bringing to the "child befriends alien/monster" genre: Luchadores.

I just got done watching this week's episode of Picard.  Those are some very small sets they're working on.  The whole season has felt very claustrophobic and ship-bound.  I'm assuming most of the budget is going towards the cast, as it should be, but it would be nice to see them have some space to move around in.

I finished my binge of Yellowjackets and promptly cancelled my subscription after the season one finale.  I know there are season two episodes available to watch, but I'm going to wait until the whole season is out to renew my subscription.  In the meantime I'll be not-so-secretly hoping Showtime will just get added to Paramount+ so I don't have to do anything.
