What's On Tonight (Friday): Oh Right, I Was Going to Start Watching Luther at Some Point...

Luther: The Fallen Sun

I've been wanting to start watching Luther pretty much since it first aired.  To this day I have watched precisely zero episodes or even parts of episodes.  What gives?  I like Idris Elba.  I like mystery shows.  I'm much less afraid of UK accents since I started watching everything with the closed captioning on.  So why haven't I started yet?  I don't know!  But now Netflix is trying to give me an "in" with its new Luther movie.  Nice try, Netflix!  I watch it from the beginning or I ain't watching!  In fact, I am definitely going to get to that... as soon as I finish binging Peaky Blinders, which I was also late to.  I got kids.  Fucking sue me.

๐ŸŽฅ Luther: The Fallen Sun✔️ (Netflix, 3:01 AM) 'Haunted by an unsolved murder, brilliant but disgraced London police detective John Luther breaks out of prison to hunt down a sadistic serial killer.'

Elsewhere...

*Apple has a documentary about a soccer team and of course they do.

*Disney+ has a new film called Chang Can Dunk about an Asian-American kid who can't jump learning to dunk a ball.  Um... Should I feel a certain way about this?

*The last Puss in Boots film is premiering on Peacock today.  I might check it out when I drop Paramount (after Picard ends or starts sucking) and pick up Peacock for Poker Face.  That won't take long to get through.  Wherever will my streaming dollars find purchase at that point?

I started watching Triptych because it looked like a sexier, Mexican-ier version of Orphan Black.  It does have some of that show's DNA, but this one actually claims to be "inspired" by the true story of the identical triplet brothers who were separated at birth but found each other later in life (never has the word "inspired" shown such elasticity).  The show features a sex scene pretty much every episode, and I'm pretty sure all of them feature the lead actress, who is hilariously hot.  I'm not sure if it's a good show, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a gigantic hit.
