Houston County in Georgia decided that it would be too expensive to include gender affirming surgery to their insurance plan to cover Sheriff Anna Lange. Instead they spent Approximately $1.2 million dollars to fight what would have been a cost of an estimated $10K. Don't let them tell you that this is not about hate. [ProPublica]

There is a new book out that outlines how the John Birch Society is responsible for the dire state of the Republican party. You're probably unaware of the John Birch Society because I'm older than most of you and I've been been barely aware. They've mostly gone underground since they were openly attacking Eisenhower and Kennedy. But their fingerprints are all over Trump, the Kochs (daddy worked for both Stalin and the Nazis and preferred the Nazis) and Ginni Thomas. [Guardian]
