What's On Tonight (Saturday): Beauty pageants are still a thing

Harnaaz Sandhu, Miss Universe 2021

Sonofabitch, give me a drink! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, January 14!

Our Top Pick tonight is the annual 71st Miss Universe (Roku Channel, 7 p.m. / Telemundo, 8 p.m.). Pickings are slim! The pageant, which still includes stuff like swimsuit and evening gown competitions, moves to streaming to crown Miss Universe 2022 -- this usually airs in December. This year also features an all-female presenting panel, a first.

Elsewhere, Nathaniel Rateliff goes to the City Limits, Hallmark needs some Wedding Inspiration, the Abyss gets deeper, there's a One Piece need for candy, and the Doctor Blake finds the movies on fire.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)
