The Santa Clauses |
Justice Society unite! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, December 7!
Our Top Pick tonight is The Santa Clause franchise's miniseries sequel The Santa Clauses (Disney+, 3 a.m.). The series finds Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) losing his magical mojo and opting to retire. The new Santa (Kal Penn), a tech CEO, is out to make Christmas a year-round business. The real star of the show is Santa's Chief of Staff, Betty (Matilda Lawler... Station Eleven!), who seamlessly handles various tones and plays an adult elf so well. It's a dry and padded show, but if the first Clause movie is on your good nostalgia list, this miniseries might check enough boxes for you. (It does me.)
Elsewhere, Stargirl concludes fights her greatest foe, Reginald must take his life-or-death vampire exam, Willow's chosen one has been snatched, a Conner meets the in-laws, CBS crowns the most Amazing Race, Christmas comes to Abbott, and Trevor Noah hosts his penultimate Daily Show.

⭐ The Santa Clauses (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Scott is taken to the Yule-verse where he learns the truth about how he came to be Santa. Meanwhile things at the North Pole get worse as more elves disappear and Christmas spirit is all but destroyed.
πΊ The Twilight Zone (Paramount+, now): Not every one of the 150+ episode of the original fantasy/horror/sci-fi series have stood the test of time. Like any anthology, there are plenty of dud and lackluster episodes. But 60 years later, there are certainly more than a handful of episodes that have aged like fine wine. And in all the reboots/revivals, no one has come close to capturing Rod Serling's opening and closing presentations. This show is one from the medium's early years that is still alive in today's pop culture -- a rarity.
Willow (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Episode 3 and the fellowship probably needs to find Elora, who has been kidnapped. If there's time, they should make their way to beyond the Shattered Sea.
