What's On Tonight (Sunday): Make it Tulsa King great

Tulsa King

Stand by your man! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, December 4!

Our Top Pick tonight is the latest Taylor Sheridan project Tulsa King (Paramount+, 3 a.m.). The crime drama brings Sylvester Stallone to the small screen as a newly released New York Mafia capo who is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to establish a criminal enterprise. Among those Tulsans roped in are Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, and Jay Will. If you like Sheridan's work, this is up your alley -- it's showrun by Terence Winter. I found the attempted humor is poorly done, but Stallone is good, though his character is an acquired taste.

Elsewhere, George Jones and Tammy Wynette get miniseries treatment, Housebroken still exists, there's one last Mood, CBS enters the holiday movie pool, Yellowstone wants to do cow things instead of govern, Generation Q seeks the One, the Rookie gets explosive, and Family Guy plays Generation Gap.

⭐ Tulsa King (Paramount+, 3 a.m.): "Visitation Place." Paramount+ does a terrible job at posting synopses for some of its shows. It's almost like it thinks it's HBO.

Her recent kerfuffles with her sister and her family name everywhere following her dad's scandal almost got her stuck with a desk job, but her boss knows she's too good to waste. Her rookie is Sgt. Peter Holiday, who proved himself when he went a bit off the books with Lt. Rudolph to rescue Lt. Dominick after he was shot down over enemy territory in the far north. Jumping ahead of many pupils due to already done unofficial assignments, Holiday comes with an ego. He also comes from a celebrated and privileged celebrity family. Belle and Holiday are assigned to the undercover HQ in Castle Hart, deep in the heart of the Koal Federation. The assignment is simpler – spying on Gen. Willie "The Claus" Stokes, who is known for having a loose tongue thanks to his drinking problem. He is planning something – or so thinks her informant Jack Skellington. Belle will be the shadows, operating out of the small three-room HQ. However, everything goes sideways when Krampus shows up, and Holiday thinks he can take down the Federation's leader by himself. He will risk the entire mission beyond just the Castle Hart operation to get him, which only infuriates Belle.
