What's On Tonight (Sunday): The most unbelievable scenes are mostly true

Rogue Heroes

Get schwifty! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, December 11!

Our Top Pick tonight is the World War II-set British drama Rogue Heroes (Epix, 9 p.m.). The BBC show, from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, follows the creation and missions of a special commando unit in North Africa during WWII that largely works (sometimes ruthlessly) behind enemy lines. An opening card states "the events depicted which seem most unbelievable... are mostly true." It stars Connor Swindells, Dominic West, Jack O'Connell, Alfie Allen, and Sofia Boutella and was renewed last week.

Elsewhere, The White Lotus says Arrivederci, Rick and Morty take a vacation, Animation Domination gets into the holiday spirit, George & Tammy find running difficult, CW gives us the Law, Jesus gives the Sermon on the Mount, Mark and Eleanor better Let the Right One In, and the First Lady gives us a holiday White House tour.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

πŸ“Ί 12 oz. Mouse (HBO Max, now): A mouse does odd jobs so he can buy more beer. The animation to this Adult Swim series was rather minimal, unrefined, and kinda bizarre. The absurdist comedy was also a serial with Fitz and his friend Skillet battling foes and Fitz had flashbacks to a life he had forgotten. The show's revival aired in 2020, 14 years after season 2 ended.

60 Minutes (CBS, 7 p.m.): U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen... The effects of legal challenges on the future of social media... The College of Magic in Cape Town, South Africa.

πŸŽ₯πŸŽ„ Christmas in Rockwell (Fox Nation, 3 a.m.): When a big town star goes home to her small town to celebrate Christmas, confusion and romance lead the holiday festivities. This sounds extra bold.

To carry it out, he recruited Snow Miser, Burgermeister Meisterburger, and Silvester WΓΌeschte, a cousin of Krampus, to go to south Christmasia. Jingle Belle knows the plan, but she is trapped in Castle Hart, unable to escape and people are looking for her. Peter Holiday has been captured. The trio ventures to one of the military bases and set up camp, waiting for drills to observe. After a couple days, they strike one late afternoon, grabbing one of the military leaders – Ded Moroz, Krampus' long lost son. He grew up around Silvester, his uncle, so they use him as a way to get him to come with them quietly. They tell him his Christmasia family never told him the truth about who he was... His father never sought him out because he didn't know... He is only being used as a marketing icon by the Klaus administration. It works, and he is willing to go with the trio back to the Koal Federation. They return to the Koal Federations main federal district and go straight to Krampus office. Completely out of his element, he recruits help from a handsome neighbor and soon finds himself in an unexpected romance. (I was gonna give this War on Christmas treatment, but it's Hallmarks first LGBTQ+ movie. I suppose that's notable enough... even if it is 2022.)
