Reno 911! It's a Wonderful Heist |
I thought turkeys could fly! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, December 3!
Our Top Pick tonight is the holiday telefilm Reno 911! It's a Wonderful Heist (Comedy Central, 8 p.m.). This holiday special reunites most of the cast (Thomas Lennon, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cedric Yarbrough, Niecy Nash, Joe Le Truglio) and puts Lt. Dangle in the George Bailey role of getting to see the world where he was never born. I hope this is better than the QAnon movie. That was bad.
Elsewhere, Academia is once again My Hero, Keke Palmer is Live from New York, Whose Line pops in for a special Saturday episode, Josh Duhamel is a Bandit, the Abyss is forgetting, and OWN joins the holiday movie soiree.
(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

πΊ The Jetsons (HBO Max, now): The classic one-season animated sitcom about a family in the ultimate futurist society of robot maids, flying cars, and a brief work week is still cited today, though the show's pop culture presence -- including an brief '80s revival -- has greatly diminished.

π₯π Christmas on Candy Cane Lane (GAC Family): On Candy Cane Lane in Whoville, the residents are living under the occupation of the Koal Federation and being governed by the Grinch, who rules with an iron fist. With the upcoming Christmas holiday only days away, the Grinch is forbidding any kind of public or private celebration with threat of imprisonment on the Coal Islands, so the celebration goes underground. On Candy Cane Lane, a world famous street for its candy confections and holiday decor, the store owners are using their outside connections to smuggle in some of the holiday spirit and transform the stuff in the stores that they won't be able to use to ensure there's some houses celebrating the holiday in a modern-traditional way. However, the spies and snitches the Grinch has put in place are hearing the rumors and are sniffing out the organizers. This could get ugly.
π₯π A Fabled Holiday (Hallmark Channel): And now for some classic Christmasia folklore. Long ago, when elves had only settled upon a fraction of Christmasia, much of the continent was said to be ruled by one person – the Great Ak, a wizard. He was someone few physically saw but was worshiped by many and has a big presence in pixie, yulelad, nisse, and gnome tales from many centuries ago. He wasn't always in power. He had to fight for it in order to help the beings of Christmasia. He lived most of his life in the woods, preferring a quiet life alongside nature. While living in a small city on the east coast, he gained fame for using his powers to keep away an Awgwa raiding party, a mostly unidentified being that once lived alongside others. (One hypothesis is that they are ancestors of snowmonsters.) Great Ak got a small band together and defeated the raiders and allies when they attempt to sack the city again. Seeing how much the Awgwas controlled the countryside, Great Ak made it his mission to stop them, which rallied thousands of inhabitants behind him. There was no coronation or official title given to him. The lands were all small city-states prior with little alliedship amongst them. It culminated with the Battle of the White Fox Prairie where the Great Ak defeated the King of the Awgwas. It was named a holiday, which is believed by some to be how New Year's Day started.
π₯π A New Orleans Noel (Lifetime): Sparks fly between an architect and her handsome counterpart as she spends Christmas with his family in New Orleans.
⭐π₯π Reno 911!: It's a Wonderful Heist (Comedy Central): It's the holiday season, and Lieutenant Dangle wishes he'd never been born. With the help of a roller skating "angel," he learns what the lives of the other deputies would be like if he never existed.
