What's On Tonight (Sunday): Dead is dead

The Walking Dead

Good night, John-Boy! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, November 20!

Our Top Pick tonight is the zombie-filled series finale of The Walking Dead (AMC / AMC+, 9 p.m.). The once behemoth of 21st century television programming has cooled a lot in its later years as the plots repeat and the cast cycles, but The Walking Dead franchise will keep going. 1 Dead show and 3 new ones are currently in the production cycle. The show made stars out of its early cast, who wondered the country looking for safety from zombies and other sinister survivors. I bailed during season 5.

Elsewhere, Elton John sings his last, Family Guy turns 400, the NuWaltons give thanks, Annika solves her final 2022 case, the Burger family plays putt-putt, SEAL Team fights, Generation Q returns, East New York has a drug problem, Magpie finds the murderer, and Last Week Tonight begins a 3-month break.

πŸ“Ί Lost in Space (Amazon Prime Video / Hulu, now): If you are like me, you probably forgot Netflix's Lost in Space reboot that received a lot of attention right before it premiered. Then chattered died off yet the show went on for 3 seasons. It's the same season count as the overly-campy '60s show, which isn't always that good, but can be enjoyable with the cast chemistry and absurd situations and behaviors. Irwin Allen shows are high art. At best they can be entertaining, which this is, especially the first 2 seasons. Also, young John Williams wrote some quality music for it.

Mood (AMC+, 3 a.m.): Sasha visits her family and the studio with Kobi, and she struggles when her old and new worlds collide. (Last week's episode: BBC America, 10 p.m.)

πŸŽ₯πŸŽ„ My Favorite Christmas Tree (GAC Family): In this STAR TV exclusive interview, reporter Elisabeth Lane sits down with Marvin Merchant, the man convicted of burning the Christmas Tree of the city of Pumpkin last year and blaming it on the mayor of Spice in an attempt to create division with the two cities. Lane will get to the bottom of the story as Merchant explains the bigger picture. He is just a cog in a massive machine attempting to foil Christmasia from the inside. Jailed for robbery in the Koal Federation, he was recruited while serving time on the Coal Islands. Upon meeting Harry Liime, he was put on a track to enter Christmasia and foster feuding within keystone communities that in the long run could weaken their governance and institutions, making a military conquest more conceivable. Also speaking about the incident all these months later are Pumpkin mayor Aaron DrumaΓ and Spice mayor Dolly Sue, who are still dating. When the interview ends and Merchant is escorted back to his holding cell, the lights go dark and a couple shots are fired. Chaos ensues over the next two minutes. Then the lights come back on. Merchant is gone.

πŸŽ₯πŸŽ„ When I Think of Christmas (Hallmark Channel): Mrs. Claus’ long-awaited final part to her 3-volume epic A History of Christmasia finally arrives. The War of the Second Noel begins as Krampus (mistakenly) expands his Klaubauf Crusades beyond just the overthrow of his cousin, Knecht Ruprecht. The war was largely contained to the border regions, but it was devastating to several regions. With only an alliance in the south, Christmasia spent the next half century expanding by absorbing several southern nations, though tension existed since many of those small republics were disgruntled because Christmasia continued with its monarchy. As concessions for the new republics, most of the remaining powers were stripped from the Royal Family. Negotiations were constant throughout the new south as many of the native populations – pixies, nisse, yulelads, bwbachs – began pushing for more autonomy, fearing their regions would be ripped out from underneath them in the years to come as Christmasia’s influence and capitalism spread. After the death of Queen Zurline, the crowning of King Tingler II was the last monarch. Meanwhile, a large portion of the Koal Federation was wrecked by the War of the Second Noel since it was a civil war before spilling into Christmasia. The agriculture regions struggled to make a comeback, and food resources dwindled, which wasn't helped by Krampus forbidding deals with Christmasia corporations. The Dark Elves Resistance gained traction through the years with attempts to weaken Krampus’ control, but its violent put down in Coal Island Revolt put the movement in disarray. As Snowdrop Prairie farmland, one of the richest agricultural areas on the continent, failed to make a comeback, Krampus eyed Christmasia lands. Still unpopular with Federation citizens, Krampus spent a decade building an intelligence network in Christmasia in attempts to topple some provinces. As his efforts yielded minimal results, he backtracked to a military invasion, this time simply for essential resources he lacked – and setting off the War of the Third Noel.

Yellowstone (Paramount Network): Beth heads to Salt Lake City to take care of unfinished business. A trap is set for Jamie. Kayce makes an important decision for his family.
