What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Wanna play?

Chucky

Love! Exciting and new! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, October 5!

Our Top Pick tonight is the return of the horror comedy Chucky (Syfy / USA, 9 p.m.). I really grew to enjoy the first season, which ended on a solid cliffhanger, too. The show is plenty gory and had many heavy emotional deaths in season 1, yet also managed to keep the dark comedy in place and proved one of the better LGBTQ shows on the air. For franchise fans, the threads that try to tie the franchise's movies into a singular canon are... odd? I like having Jennifer Tilly back.

ElsewhereChicago Fire goes to the movies, Tooning Out the News upgrades to Comedy Central, the Ducks are out of bounds, Stargirl pulls away, Reginald becomes a VampireTell Me happy birthday, a Conner wants to drive, and King Fu is still fighting.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

Abominable and the Invisible City (Hulu, midnight / Peacock, 3 a.m.): SEASON ONE. The animated movie that you probably forgot about gets a TV spinoff! "The yeti, Yi, Jin and Peng are back to discover the magical world outside."

Andor (Disney+, 3 a.m.): This is the 5th episode. And I don't remember what happened in the 4th. That should tell you how highly I think of this so, thus far.

The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu, midnight): June and Luke embark on a dangerous quest. Serena gets to know her new hosts.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (Disney+, 3 a.m.): "Out of Bounds"

πŸŽ₯ Mr. Harrigan's Phone (Netflix, 3 a.m.): When Mr. Harrigan (Donald Sutherland) dies, the teen (Jaeden Martell) who befriended and did odd jobs for him, puts his smart phone in his pocket before burial and when the lonely youth leaves his dead friend a message, he is shocked to get a return text.

πŸŽ₯ The Sound of 007 (Amazon Prime Video, midnight): "Follows the remarkable history of six decades of James Bond music, going behind the lens into one of the greatest movie franchise and the iconic 007 theme song."

Tell Me Lies (Hulu, midnight): "The group goes to Evan's lake house to celebrate his 21st birthday."

πŸ“Ί To Tell the Truth (Amazon Prime Video, now): The latest incarnation of this classic panel show is okay. The original with host Bud Collyer and a panel of celebrities trying to figure out which of the contestants was the real person and who were the fakers was top notch. A large handful of episodes are available on Prime. My intro to the show was the John O'Hurley version.
