What's On Tonight (Sunday): Crimes and crushes in Victorian London

Miss Scarlet and the Duke

Double, double toil and trouble! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, January 8!

Our Top Pick tonight is Miss Scarlet & the Duke (PBS, 8 p.m.), one of my favorite Masterpiece shows. In Victorian era London, Miss Eliza Scarlet is trying to make it as a private investigator, and William "Duke" Wellington is a detective inspector; they're childhood friends with romantic chemistry but often clash professionally. It's not groundbreaking television, but it can be quite entertaining. It's a British series co-produced with PBS, and we are getting season 3 before the Brits! Tonight is a terrestrial premiere as the season has been available to stream since November for PBS Passport and Masterpiece on Prime Video members/subscribers.

Elsewhere, All Creatures loses the one ring, Alexandra Daddario gets her some Witches, Fox is on Alert, America's Mayor gets docuseries treatment, Prince Harry goes on the 60, NCIS: LA is on a boat (motherfucker), and Family Guy parodies movies that are 20-35 years old.
