Halloween Ends |
The only Halloween film I've seen more than once is the original. Of the many sequels and remakes, the only one I've seen is the second film, and I remember almost nothing about it. Still, I love Jamie Lee Curtis (she should get an Oscar nom for Everything Everywhere All at Once), and any franchise that keeps her working is fine by me. I won't watch it, but I'll cheer it on from the sidelines.
Elsewhere...
*Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam is back with a new series on Apple called Shantaram. Hunnam plays an escaped convict hiding out in Bombay because that's what one does when one is an escaped convict. There's a love interest, dirty dealings and actual on location shooting. The most important thing though is Dr Bashir himself, Alexander Siddig, is also in the cast. Will we find out halfway through the season that his character was actually a genetically modified super-genius the whole time?
*Hulu has a film that tries to pull a Rosencrantz & Guildenstern with Romeo & Juliet by focusing on Rosaline, Romeo's former girlfriend who is only mentioned but never seen in the play. There's no attempt at getting the characters to speak in verse, or to even act like they're living in whatever time period this is supposed to be, but it looks like it might be fun. Personally, I hate Romeo & Juliet and am fine with anything that takes the piss.
*Peacock has a Caillou Halloween film. Any Caillou fans out there? No? Moving on.
*Netflix's big entry this week is a Halloween comedy starring Marlon Wayans called The Curse of Bridge Hollow. Wayans plays a father having to deal with a bunch of crazy bullshit nonsense when his daughter accidentally sets off a curse that makes all the Halloween decorations in town come to life. Hopefully the jokes aren't as lazy as the plot.
I'm still getting caught up on Rings of Power and Great British Baking Show. I'm not looking forward to the instantly infamous "Puerto Rico Day Parade" "Mexico" episode of the latter. There will probably be a lot of face palms on my part during that hour. On the other hand, I eagerly await the "Mexico" episode of Rings of Power. Galadriel in a sombrero chowing down on a Doritos Cheesy Gordita Crunch is all I need in life.
