Big Mouth |
I often wonder how I would have reacted to Big Mouth had it aired when I was going through puberty. I've got two sons who are right in the middle of it (ages 12 and 13), and they seem to have no interest in this show. Perhaps it's easier to laugh at this sort of stuff once you're not going through it anymore, but I believe Big Mouth would actually be a pretty educational show to watch for anyone in the throes of pubescence. It's also really fucking funny.
Elsewhere...
*Amazon has new series, The Devil's Hour, where Peter Capaldi plays a man that might be some sort of time traveling serial killer. Steven Moffatt is one of the Executive Producers. No word yet if the final episode shows him regenerating into Jodie Whitaker.
*Apple has a new Louis Armstrong documentary, Louis Armstrong's Balck & Blues. For the kids, Armstrong is the guy that sings "What a Wonderful World," a song that has been used ironically in TV and film since the late 60's.
*HBO Max has a new action/comedy series called ¡Garcรญa!, which is about a spy from 1960's fascist Spain being accidentally unfrozen in the present day by a reporter. Will there be culture shock? Oh, you better believe there'll be culture shock.
*Netflix has a new animated film called Wendell & Wild. It also has a new live action film called Wild is the Wind. One is decidedly a family film, and one decidedly is not. I look forward to stories of people mixing the two up.
I watched the first two episodes of last week's Top Pick, The Peripheral. The first episode was underwhelming with a lot of exposition and set up. The second episode was much better beginning with a great action sequence and getting into the nuts and bolts of what the story actually is. I'll be seeing this one through.
