What's On Tonight (Sunday): Snakes on a throne

The Serpent Queen

Off with her head! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, September 11!

With a flurry of monarchy options, our Top Pick tonight is the new period drama The Serpent Queen (Starz, 8 p.m.). That queen is Catherine de' Medici, an Italian who married to become queen of France but who's husband, King Henry II, loved someone else. Samantha Morton plays the monarch as she makes her plays to shape renaissance- and reformation-era France and keep the monarchy in power.

Elsewhere, a new Queen arrives in France, an English Queen's head rolls, the Roman Monarchy is threatened, Jon Bernthal is a Gigolo, an attack stalls the investigation on a HillDead has a final Tale to tell, fortune-telling machine is in Chesapeake, and there's no more Guilt.
