Lucy Worsley Investigates |
Good for you! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, September 25!
Our Top Pick tonight is the return of my favorite British historian and her docuseries Lucy Worsley Investigates (PBS, 8 p.m.). The show is pretty straightforward in its storytelling and doesn't venture into the glam and costuming as other Worsley docs, where even Worsley, the Joint Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, gets into costume and observes the recreations. Still, I love her narrating and presentation of historical people and events. I wish American TV had a Lucy.
Elsewhere, Jeopardy! has celebrities, Animation returns for more Domination, Chesapeake Shores reveals a baby's gender, The Serpent Queen wants a baby, Big Brother crowns a winner, Mallory Jansen loves a mystery, Disney kicks of its spooky season, The Murdochs get docuseries treatment, and Van Der Valk returns to investigate Amsterdam's underside.

You can see Brooke Shields, Marisa Tomei, Steve Buscemi, America Ferrera, Aisha Tyler, and Jean Smart, among many others venture to places both foreign and domestic where there ancestors once were.

The Great North (Fox, 8:30 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. Honeybee and Wolf discover an Outback-themed restaurant they can't stop going to. Beef confronts his fear of small talk.

Bob's Burgers (Fox): SEASON PREMIERE. Bob, Linda, and the kids help Mr. Fischoeder put on a play to get his brother Felix to confess to a theft. I wonder if this has any reference to the movie, which also featured the Fischoeders. Also, "Louise is jealous of Tina's hands."

Family Guy (Fox, 9:30 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. In this premiere episode in [*checks calendar*] 2022, the Griffins perform a retelling of three Oscar-winning stories: The Silence of the Lambs, American Beauty and Forrest Gump. And people say SNL has bizarre timing to do parodies of yesteryear things.
π₯ Francesca Quinn, P.I. (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries): Galavant's Mallory Jansen takes a shot at getting a Hallmark mystery series. "A private investigator is hired to find her fiancΓ©e's killer. In order to solve the case, she will need to work with her ex and the person who broke them up."
House of the Dragon (HBO): I'd give a likely synopsis after the closing scene in the last episode, but this show loves time jumps that makes for bad pacing and fleshed-out storytelling.
