What's On Tonight (Sunday): Rock them body-hotty, rock them, like ladi-dadi

American Gigolo

Never again. Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, September 18!

Our Top Pick tonight is the latest Showtime drama American Gigolo (Showtime, 9 p.m.). Based on the 1980 Richard Gere film, the show follows Julian Kay (Jon Bernthal) trying to find his footing in the Los Angles sex industry after 15 years in prison from a murder he didn't commit. It also stars Gretchen Mol and Rosie O'Donnell. I haven't heard that many good things about it, but I have Showtime and I gotta use that subscription with something.

Elsewhere60 Minutes is still 60 minutes, Ken Burns studies America and the Holocaust, SEAL Team still lacks seals, Malory needs to study, the War of the Worlds is still raging on, Pyramid has a Superstore reunion, and Johnson goes to church.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

ON THIS SITE

Cancellation League (3 p.m.-ish): The big fall premieres really start rolling out tomorrow. Fall TV! FALL! If Cancellation League didn't exist, would we still be able to tell fall TV existed?

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

60 Minutes (CBS, 7:30 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. President Joe Biden discusses inflation, Russia's war on Ukraine, U.S.-China tensions, the midterm elections and more... Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Blood & Treasure (Paramount+, 3 a.m.): "Raid on the Hidden Fortress." Doesn't seem like much of hidden fortress if there's a raid happening.

πŸ“Ί Fixer Upper (Discovery+, now): Discovery loves Chip and Joanna Gaines so much, it gave them their own network and revived their FU show as Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. I was surprised to see the original HGTV home design and renovation show only ran for 79 episodes.

Malory Towers (BYUtv, 7:30 p.m.): Bill is struggling with her schoolwork due to spending too much time at the stables, but she and Darrell need Thunder's help when someone at school has a serious accident.

SEAL Team (Paramount+, 3 a.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. "Low-Impact," which is also what I think of the show's reach post-CBS.✔️

πŸ•— 8 P.M. EASTERN / πŸ•– 7 P.M. CENTRAL

Chesapeake Shores (Hallmark Channel): Various issues are troubling the O'Briens. "Various"? Lack of healthcare access? Inflation? Voting rights? Water pollution? Midwest droughts? Overfishing? I need more than "various"!

Johnson (Bounce TV): SEASON FINALE. Omar finally attends church and gives a powerful testimony that shocks everyone. Keith vulnerably professes his feelings for Jackee through poetry.

Ruby and the Well (BYUtv): SEASON PREMIERE. After a long wishless winter, Ruby struggles both to save the well and grant the wish of an enemy of the community.

The Serpent Queen (Starz): "To War Rather Than to Bed" I don't relate to this episode title.

The U.S. and the Holocaust (PBS): SERIES PREMIERE. "Inspired in part by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Americans and the Holocaust exhibition and supported by its historical resources, this documentary series examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global antisemitism and racism, the eugenics movement in the United States, and race laws in the American south." This 3-part Ken Burns series is surely gonna be an important series.✔️
