What's On Tonight (Saturday): Ten Pictures is worth 50 minutes

A Life in Ten Pictures

Somebody wake up Green Day! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, October 1!

Our Top Pick tonight is the new episode of the monthly docuseries A Life in Ten Pictures (Crackle, 3 a.m.). The BBC-produced show takes 10 pictures that could be famous shows or private snaps, but all will help tell the subject's life story. Previous entries covered Freddie Mercury, Tupac Shakur, Elizabeth Taylor, and Muhammad Ali. Crackle releases a new episode on the first of each month.

Elsewhere, Miles Teller is live from New York, Brandi Carlile goes to the City Limits, Yvonne Orji makes us laugh, Hulu takes us to Dragstravaganza, NBC celebrates Halloween, Yaz seeks to be HappyScream gets new life, and Housing Complex C is creepy.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

Huluween Dragstravaganza (Hulu, midnight): SPECIAL. A Halloween-themed variety special featuring some RuPaul's Drag Race and Dragula alumni. It has Ginger Minj, MonΓ©t X Change, and Jujubee, so it has my attention.

πŸ“Ί Press Your Luck (Amazon Prime Video, now): I like the new Elizabeth Banks-hosted version, but it is hard to beat the original run with host Peter Tomarken. He was such a fun host as he guided contestants through the trivia and a board full of Whammys. Mean creatures.

Red Election (Ovation, 7 p.m.): Shock when the Prime Minister finally loses the referendum. Beatrice tells William that she knows he was behind the Skanda bomb.

Guests include Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, Regis Philbin, and John Wayne.

πŸŽ₯ Scream (Showtime): 25 years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past.

Saturday Night Live (NBC, 11:29 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. Miles Teller and Kendrick Lamar get to usher in season 48 of the show that is often mediocre but I would never consider missing an episode. I've been a faithful viewer since 1998. However, now there is no more Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Melissa VillaseΓ±or, Kyle Mooney, Chris Redd, Alex Moffat, and Aristotle Athari. The cast was already bloated, but I'll still miss most of those performers. Some were planned exits, some were expected, and some were a surprise. The show adds Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker for a full cast of 17, down from 21. Kenan Thompson, Cecily Strong, and Colin Jost are the only cast members who had their names read by Don Pardo.

πŸ“Ί Star Trek (MeTV, 11 p.m.): The Enterprise encounters an ancient Earth probe bent on the sterilization of all life.

πŸ“Ί Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (MeTV, 2 a.m.): An experiment with particles of matter threatens all aboard the Seaview.
