Looking over Friday's premieres I get the feeling that the streamers were purposely avoiding putting anything particularly noteworthy up the day after Amazon's The Rings of Power debuted. And why exactly did The Rings of Power debut on a Thursday? Amazon always debuts their stuff on Fridays. They have denied themselves the coveted Friday Top Pick bump! Sure, they got Top Pick yesterday, but the Thursday Top Pick bump is miniscule next to the power of the Friday Top Pick. You'd think when premiering the most expensive TV show ever you would want to maximize your potential audience. I just don't get you, Amazon.
*Hulu has a new Hindi language import called Cuttputlli. It's about a small-town cop chasing a serial killer. I'm not sure there's anything special here other than it's an import and not another American series about murder(s) in a small town.
*AMC+ has a new sci-fi eco disaster film titled Rubikon. This is unfortunately NOT a follow-up to the AMC series Rubicon. Also unfortunately, it's got a 27% rating on Rotten Tomatoes as of Thurs afternoon.
*Netflix has a new Satanist cult limited series, Devil in Ohio, starring Bones herself, Emily Deschanel. Of all the 80s fads and fears I really would have preferred not to come back; it would be the whole Satanist cult paranoia thing. Thanks Stranger Things!
I caught the first episode of House of the Dragon. I wasn't necessarily super psyched for this one, although I am a fan of Matt Smith from his time on Doctor Who. He's fine, as is the cast on the whole, the problem is 15 minutes into the episode I wondered to myself, "Maybe I don't really want more Game of Thrones." I'm going to continue watching but the first episode reminded me of many things I don't miss about the original series.
