What's On Tonight (Saturday): Royalty didn't run in her blood

The Princess

Oh my God, they killed Kenny! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, August 13!

Our Top Pick tonight is the documentary The Princess (HBO, 8 p.m.). The documentary is yet another profile of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, who died nearly 25 years ago, and has nothing to do with the Joey King movie that was released last month.

Elsewhere, South Park celebrates 25 years, it's summer in Africa, friendship solves being Afraid of the Dark, the Straw Hats say goodbye to the Fishmen, and S.W.A.T. takes care of the thugs.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

Are You Afraid of the Dark? (Nickelodeon, 7 p.m.): SEASON FINALE. Caught in a battle between the living and the dead, a shattered Midnight Society must harness the power of friendship to piece itself together and restore peace to Ghost Island.

πŸ“Ί Everybody Hates Chris (The CW / Paramount+ / Peacock / Tubi, now): With Paramount+ giving a series order to an animated reboot of this underappreciated Chris Rock-created sitcom, now is the time to start from the beginning. You probably got a couple years. The original series, inspired by Chris Rock's upbringing, starred Abbott Elementary's Tyler James Williams as Chris with dad Terry Crews, mom Tichina Arnold, and siblings Tequan Richmond and Imani Hakim; a family that was always just barely scraping by. UPN! UPN! UPN!✔️

Red Election (Ovation, 7 p.m.): Beatrice's boss, William, doesn't trust Katrine. Beatrice is thrown by the fact that Katrine is pregnant.

⭐πŸŽ₯ The Princess (HBO): Princess Diana's story is told exclusively through contemporaneous archive creating a bold and immersive narrative of her life and death. It also illuminates how the public's attitude to the monarchy was, and still is.✔️

πŸŽ₯ In Love with My Partner's Wife (Lifetime): Detective Paul Ford goes on the run from his fellow officers after his partner, Frank, frames him for murder. He soon begins a heated love affair with Eve, the abused wife of the same crooked partner. Oh, Paul. Watch a Lifetime movie sometime and this would never happen.

πŸŽ₯ The Novice (Showtime): A college freshman joins her university's rowing team and undertakes an obsessive physical and psychological journey to make it to the top varsity boat, no matter the cost.

πŸ“Ί S.W.A.T. (Decades): Spend the weekend with the original S.W.A.T.-ters, a short-lived spinoff of The Rookies. In this episode, "thugs hijack an armored car and hide it somewhere in Los Angeles. S.W.A.T. borrows another armored car and tries to penetrate it for practice, but can't do it. The stolen car had no money inside, so S.W.A.T. assumes it will be used in a future heist. But where?" You'd think that'd be where the synopsis ended, but there's one more kicker: "A national beauty pageant with a million dollars in prizes provides the answer."
