What's On Tonight (Friday): The Sea Was Angry That Day, My Friends...

 

At first, I was a little disappointed with the Top Pick candidates this week.  There just didn't seem to be anything that really struck my fancy.  I decided to look a little deeper in order to bestow Top Pick status upon the worthiest candidate.  Still, nothing impressed until I watched the trailer for The Sea Beast.  Netflix has a pretty decent track record with animated family films (Klaus and The Mitchells vs the Machines being two good recent examples) and judging by the Rotten Tomatoes score (100% as of the morning of July 7), The Sea Beast is another winner.  So, give it a shot.  If nothing else, it has Karl Urban.  That's gotta be worth a bit of your time.

*Amazon has a spin-off of their Modern Love series set in Hyderabad.  The setting wasn't the reason I skipped the original series.

*Apple has a new series starring Taron Edgerton as a convicted drug dealer who agrees to befriend a serial killer in exchange for an early release.  If it has a soundtrack of curated Elton John classics: I'M IN.

*Netflix has a new adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons set in the modern world.  WHY HAS NO ONE EVER THOUGHT TO DO THIS BEFORE?

*Peacock has a new British import about bomb disposal experts during a terrorist campaign.  Boris has been out less than twenty-four hours and terrorists are already campaigning.
