, [Stereogum] Porno For Pyros, the short-lived Jane’s Addiction offshoot featuring Perry Farrell and Stephen Perkins, are in the midst of a reunion 25 years after their 1997 breakup. A version of the band subbed in for Jane’s at the Welcome To Rockville festival in May due to Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro’s battle with long COVID, but Mike Gryciuk was behind the drum kit for that gig.

Horror-Thriller The Retaliators Featuring Mötley Crüe, Papa Roach, and FFDP Members: Watch Official Trailer. [Consequence] The film will hit theaters September 14th via Better Noise Films and features appearances by a bevy of notable rockers such as Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe), Ivan Moody and Zoltan Bathory (Five Finger Death Punch), Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills), and more. The starring cast includes Michael Lombardi (Rescue Me), Marc Menchaca (Ozark), and Joseph Gatt.

A new reality reverberates through Russia's music scene. [NPR] Russian laws have criminalized anti-war statements — sometimes even the word "war" — especially when coming from influential figures. Some Russian artists have lined up in support of what the Kremlin calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine. Many others publicly act as if nothing's changed, afraid or claiming their art to be outside of geopolitics. Some have dissented and keep performing, while others get blacklisted and taken off air.

Amy Winehouse Biopic Coming From Fifty Shades of Grey Director
. [Spin] An Amy Winehouse biopic is finally moving forward. According to Deadline, Back to Black will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, best known for directing the first film in the box office-busting Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. The script was penned by Matt Greenhalgh (The Look of Love, Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool) and has the blessing of Winehouse's estate.

1962: The Rolling Stones make their live debut at the Marquee Club in London subbing for Long John Baldry's Blues Incorporated. The band members are Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Dick Taylor, Ian Stewart and future Kink Mick Avory.

July 13
1985: The Live Aid concerts take place in Philadelphia and London to raise money for the hungry in Africa. The Beach Boys, The Four Tops, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Elton John, David Bowie, The Who, Queen, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan all take part.



July 14
1993: The US Postal Service introduces four new stamps honoring classic Broadway musicals: My Fair Lady, Porgy and Bess, Show Boat, and Oklahoma!

July 15
1986: Run-DMC's Raising Hell becomes the first rap album certified Platinum.

July 16
1967: Arlo Guthrie debuts "Alice's Restaurant Massacree" at the 1967 Newport Folk Festival. The song runs 18 minutes long and tells a true (but greatly exaggerated) story about how he was arrested one Thanksgiving morning for illegal dumping. The ticket later made him ineligible for the draft, keeping him out of the Vietnam War. Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Judy Collins, Janis Ian, and Tom Paxton also play the festival this day.

 
July 17
1970: The Guess Who perform at the White House for President Richard Nixon and his royal guests, Prince Charles and Princess Anne. They do not play their hit "American Woman," as they are asked to refrain from performing it "as a matter of taste."
