Depeche Mode Share Statement About Andy Fletcher’s Death. In their statement, the group’s Martin Gore and Dave Gahan revealed Fletcher’s cause of death at the request of his family, “Andy suffered an aortic dissection while at home on May 26,” they wrote. “So, even though it was far, far too soon, he passed naturally and without prolonged suffering.”[Stereogum]

A Vancouver Radio Station Has Been Playing Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Killing in the Name’ Nonstop
. Considering that the British Columbia station’s format is pop and soft rock, this isn’t quite the reunited Rage’s demographic. So why now? According to the Vancouver Sun, three popular radio hosts— Kevin Lim, Sonia Sidhu, and Tara Jean Stevens—were released from the company after a more than five-year run. [Spin]

June 27
1980: Three songs into Led Zeppelin's concert in Nuremberg, drummer John Bonham collapses while beating out the rhythm to "Black Dog" and is rushed to the hospital, abruptly ending the show. Robert Plant jokes that he ate too many bananas before the show, but alcohol is the likely culprit. In September, Bonham dies after a night of drinking.

June 28
1975: David Bowie releases "Fame," featuring John Lennon on backing vocals. It become Bowie's first #1 hit in the US.



June 29
1984: After a failed attempt shooting a studio video for "Dancing In The Dark," Bruce Springsteen does it live at his concert in St. Paul, Minnesota. During Clarence Clemons' sax solo, he brings a doe-eyed, 19-year-old Courteney Cox on stage to dance with him.

June 30
1977: Marvel Comics publishes a Kiss comic book with a vial of their blood mixed into the ink.

July 1
1979: The Sony Walkman debuts in Japan, making music portable.

July 2
2005: Pink Floyd perform "Comfortably Numb" at the Live 8 London concert, re-forming with band members Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright for the first time since 1981, when Waters left the band. It's the last time the four play together, as Wright dies in 2008.

 
July 3
1971: Jim Morrison of The Doors is found dead in a bathtub at age 27. No autopsy is performed, and while drugs are suspected, the official cause is listed as "heart attack induced by respiratory problems."
