The Janes |
Generation why! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, June 8!
Our Top Pick tonight is the documentary The Janes (HBO, 8 p.m.). It revisits the women of the pre-Roe vs. Wade-era who built an underground service for women seeking safe and affordable abortions. They worked under the name Jane.
Elsewhere, Kamala Khan is a Marvel, The Flash goes off the grid, Adam Sandler has gotta Hustle, The Deep End has found a cult, Discovery+ is Hungry, and POTUS visits Kimmel.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME
πΊ Full House (HBO Max, now): "Have mercy." "You got it dude." "How rude." "Cut it out." "You're in big trouble, mister!" Was this show that was seemingly unescapable in the 1990s good? No. But for some, like me, is it kind comfort TV — that I can acknowledge is also bad. The sitcom stars the late Bob Saget as he raises his 3 young daughters (Candace Cameron, Jodie Sweetin, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen) with the help of his comedian friend (Dave Coulier) and rocker brother-in-law (John Stamos). Such clashing personalities... what could go wrong? [*studio audience laughs*]
Hungry for Answers (Discovery+, 3 a.m.): SEASON ONE. This docuseries is not just a food show, but "a Black food show with an ambitious endeavor to serve up a healthy dose of history with each delicious bite and sip explored."
π₯ Hustle (Netflix, 3 a.m.): Washed-up basketball scout Adam Sandler discovers a phenomenal street ball player while in Spain and sees the prospect as his opportunity to get back into the NBA. With Ben Foster, Robert Duvall, Queen Latifah, and Juancho Hernangomez.
Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey (Netflix, 3 a.m.): LIMITED SERIES. This is a docuseries on the polygamist monster Warren Jeffs.
Ms. Marvel (Disney+, 3 a.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. "Kamala is a superhero fan with an imagination, particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Kamala feels like she doesn't fit in at school and sometimes even at home, that is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she's looked up to." This miniseries is a set-up for The Marvels, set to premiere next summer. The 2010s Ms. Marvel comic by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona is one of my all-time favorite comics.✔️
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Is he our only hope?
π₯ Obsessed to Death (Tubi, 3 a.m.): "When Cassie's new boyfriend ghosts her for fitness instructor Summer, she quickly becomes entranced with the seemingly perfect trainer, taking obsession to a deadly level."
Total Dramarama (Cartoon Network, 6 p.m.): "The Cone-versation"
Victor and Valentino (Cartoon Network, 6:15 p.m.): When Chata is blamed for a bad painting restoration, she must go under cover to find the real perp and clear her name.
