What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Condragulations

Generation Drag

Happy Pride Month! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, June 1!

Our Top Pick tonight is the docuseries Generation Drag (Discovery+, 3 a.m.). The show follows five teenagers preparing for their biggest drag performance at Dragutante, a first-of-its-kind drag ball event for teens and tweens. The kids must "juggle the pressures of being young adults, while pursuing drag greatness." It's the perfect way to kick off pride month.

Elsewhere, South Park goes to war, Obi-Wan is our only hope, AMC+ gives a Slo PitchDad is Dead, Peacock visits the City of Queens, Dubai also has Housewives, and Sistas makes a difficult decision.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

πŸŽ₯ City of Queens (Peacock, 3 a.m.): Contrasting the glamour, fun and sharp-tongued humor with stories of abuse, attacks, past trauma dealt with through unrelenting resilience. This British film goes behind the makeup to tell the unfiltered gritty human truth of their lives. It features Bimini Bon Boulash, for all those who watched the fantastic second season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK.

πŸ“Ί DuckTales (Disney+, now): If you only know the remake of the animated comedy, then you haven't seen the sometimes better-put-together original from the late '80s. When Donald Duck joins the navy, he leaves his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie with his uncle, the ultrarich 1%-er Scrooge McDuck. Hijinks happen. Bonds are formed.

Generation Drag (Discovery+, 3 a.m.): SEASON ONE. "Five teens prepare for a drag ball event show, designed as a platform for LGBTQ+ teens to express themselves."✔️

πŸŽ₯ My Dead Dad (HBO Max, 3 a.m.): A young burnout (Pedro Correa) discovers his estranged father is dead, leaving him the responsibility of managing an apartment complex. With hopes of cutting ties, he's forced to grow up, learning about the dad he never knew through the eclectic tenants.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Obi-Wan is back for his Obi Thrice! (aka episode 3) He uses the force and stuff. Probably. I haven't watched the show.

Slo Pitch (AMC+, 3 a.m.): SEASONS ONE & TWO. A Canadian import. "Baseball team Brovaries try to qualify for the playoffs but to get there many obstacles are shown on their way. A series about beers, queers, and Slo Pitch."

πŸŽ₯ South Park: The Streaming Wars (Paramount+, 3 a.m.): Cartman locks horns with his mum in a battle of wills while an epic conflict unfolds and threatens South Park's very existence.
