What's On Tonight (Sunday): Mind tricks on the pretty woman

Gaslit

Happy Mother's Day! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, May 8!

Our Top Pick tonight is the 1970s-set political thriller Gaslit (Starz, 8 p.m.). Based on the first season of the podcast Slow Burn, which was also turned into a pretty good docuseries on Epix in 2020, the show stars Julia Roberts as the popular socialite Martha Mitchell, whose husband is the Nixon loyalist and U.S. Attorney General John N. Mitchell (Sean Penn). While Martha sounded the alarm about Nixon and Watergate, her husband and other Nixon loyalists want to shut her up. The cast includes Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham, Allison Tolman, Chris Messina, Patton Oswalt, Nat Faxon, and Erinn Hayes.

Elsewhere, true crime podcasts hit The Great North, the Midwife and one final Call, Ridley Road infiltrates neo-Nazis, the Equalizer has visions, Stanley Tucci searches Piedmont, and Bob's kids navigate a family feud, and Debra gets a hobby.
