I've gone through the morning headline thread and it's pretty clear that there's one thing that we want to talk about. Sorry Ray Liotta, we'll miss you, but you died at the wrong time. There is a slight chance that something might happen this time. Maybe some sensible gun laws might be passed. Maybe some police training that doesn't involve military attacks on antifa might happen. Because this happened in Texas and a weakened NRA is hosting a convention in Houston. But first let's talk to a fourth grade kid who survived and tells us how he did. [KENS5]
It took over an hour for the police to even respond and then only when the Border Patrol showed up. What the fuck is up with that? I'm in Wisconsin and we have a water border with Canada and we don't have Border Patrol just hanging around. How many more kids and teachers would die if it happened here? [Associated Press]
Desperate parents tried to get into the school to get their children out but the police held them back. Handcuffing and tasing them as if they were the criminals instead of the guy with the gun inside who was shooting their kids. [Daily Beast]
Protests have already begun against the NRA convention in Houston which starts, inconveniently, tomorrow. The Houston Chronicle covers that but also offers a timeline of how things happened and got horribly out of control. [Houston Chronicle]
Political discussion welcome.
