Everyone, with the notable exception of Fox "News" and most Republicans, are still talking about the racist, asshole kid who drove all the way across the state of New York to hunt black people. As someone said, Tucker Carlson is considering suing the kid for plagiarism. I think the kid should be sent away for life (which will be very, uh, interesting for him since we incarcerate blacks at a much higher rate than we do whites) but I place a lot of the blame on Trump. When he opened his campaign with a racist attack on Mexicans the press gleefully condemned him but his popularity soared. And as he continually made racist attacks the response devolved to "Oh, that Trump." And racists all across the country felt empowered and came out of hiding.
Oh, there's also been four mass shootings since then. I'm writing this a couple hours before post time so that number may be a tad optimistic. Tots and Pears everyone. [Guarrdian]
