What's On Tonight (Saturday): Magic wand, make the Sesame Streeters grow!

Mecha Builders

C is for cookie! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, April 30!

Our Top Pick tonight is the new computer animated preschool series Mecha Builders (Cartoon Network, 7:30 p.m.), the first of three Sesame Street titles due out this year. The series reimagines Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby as robot heroes-in-training who use their STEM skills to solve (pretty ridiculous) problems. The show is designed for older preschoolers. You guys, Saturday options are slim!

Elsewhere, Shenmue finds who killed his father, the Classroom wants to save their teacher, HGTV finds a GoldmineMurdoch investigates the death of a cartoonist, USA gets Strange, and Lupin evades Sherlock.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

๐Ÿ“บ Cowboy Bebop (Funimation / Netflix / Tubi, now): The underwhelming live-action adaptation failed to please the Netflix suits, but the original neo-noir Japanese anime series, which tells its entire story in 26 episodes, can still be found on a few streamers, including both the dubbed and subbed versions. Even the (original English) dub is quality. The series follows the 2071-set misadventures and tragedies of an easygoing bounty hunter and his partners. I love it so much.

๐Ÿ“บ Doctor Who (Retro TV, 6 p.m.): Sorceress from another dimension Morgaine summons the Destroyer in England, where she also seeks to take the sword Excalibur for herself. The Doctor meets Arthurian legend.

⭐ Mecha Builders (Cartoon Network, 7:30 p.m.): SERIES PREMIERE. This is a special series premiere as it won't regularly air on Saturdays. A giant pie is sent to Pretty Big City to stop an asteroid, but the Mechas and friends have eaten the whole thing.✔️

Episodes are starting at half-past the hour today because the marathon begins with the 90-minute pilot. In this episode, Hooker (William Shatner) and Romano (Adrian Zmed) pursue a rapist who's left just one clue: a size 13 footprint.
