Anderson Cooper Full Circle |
There are Pretenders among us! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, May 23!
Our Top Pick tonight is the news show Anderson Cooper Full Circle (CNN+, 3 a.m.), the only Saturday show the young, DOA streamer. I wanted to highlight Sunday's Jake Tapper's Book Club, but the day is already too busy. CNN+ has another week to live. I wonder what will become of the documentary programs CNN airs because CNN+ became the replacement for CNN Films, a separate streamer where they were available after airing and before arriving on HBO Max.
Elsewhere, bad celebrities can be Rich & Shameless, Lupin the 3rd evades Sherlock Holmes, the pirate Fisher Tiger keeps a promise, Batman is an awkward loner, a flying boat is needed for an Attack, and ABC can feel the love tonight.

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME
⭐ Anderson Cooper Full Circle (CNN+, 3 a.m.): Anderson Cooper interviews some author or celebrity and shares various trending stories in the internets because... that's what the kids want?
📺 Doctor Who (Retro TV, 6 p.m.): On Segonax. three Gods of Ragnarok force visitors of the Psychic Circus to put on acts for their amusement for the greatest show in the galaxy. Seventh Doctor serial!
📺 Doogie Howser, M.D. (Hulu, now): Before there was Disney+'s Doogie Kamealoha (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), there was ABC's Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick Harris), who had an incredibly similar life. He was a 16-year-old kid genius who is now a surgeon at his dad's hospital while still going through puberty. The Steven Bochco-David E. Kelley comedy is pretty good, but certain aspects haven't aged well. Doogie's best friends is a bit of a creep and some of the issues characters face in its odd premise aren't handled that well in retrospect, but it also tackled several social issues quite well.
Murdoch Mysteries (Ovation, 7 p.m.): While Det. Murdoch deals with the irritating Newsomes caught in a byzantine kidnapping situation, Julia must decide on her response to her former hospital blacklisting her.

🎥 The Batman (HBO): When the Riddler, a sadistic serial killer, begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Cedric Diggory Edward Cullen Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement. It's unlike any live-action Batman you've seen. If you are watching this for the first time, I hope you aren't sitting next to young teens who love to talk. Movie theaters suck.✔️
🎥 Greed: A Seven Deadly Sins Story (Lifetime): "When interior decorator Zuri Maxwell meets handsome benefactor and entrepreneur Godfrey Anderson, she compromises the values and morals that should guide her in an effort to be part of the moneyed world she so desperately wants to be part of."
Rich & Shameless (TNT): SERIES PREMIERE. A special episode aired a few weeks ago when Pam & Tommy was a thing to capitalize on that scandalous. Now it's weekly. "A look at the dark side of the Girls Gone Wild franchise, including Joe Francis' downward spiral, an audio recording of a verbal altercation between Francis and his estranged wife, and interviews with women who say their lives were ruined."
🎥 A Tail of Love (Hallmark Channel): When Bella discovers the funding for her dog rescue center is being discontinued, she turns to JR, a caring soldier who becomes attached to one of her rescues and her. OMG, the title says "tail" instead of "tale"! Get it?!

In this early episode, "Jarod joins a bomb squad as he searches for a madman whose explosive device blinded a photographer." It's a good episode.
