Tournament of Champions |
You know you love me. XOXO! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, February 27!
Our Top Pick tonight is the return of the culinary bracket competition series Tournament of Champions (Food Network, 8 p.m.). The Guy Fieri-hosted series expands from two brackets (East v. West) to four with 32 chefs. Reigning champ Maneet Chauhan returns as does season 1 champ Brooke Williamson(!), who has only lost 1 time — last season's final against Chauhan. Other competing chefs are not just more Food Network regulars. (Shirley Chung is one, so obvs I am all in for a Brooke v. Shirley match as a Top Chef: Charleston redux.) The show is exceedingly padded with Fieri's overdone introductions and the play by plays are bland. However, the highlight is the judging, which is done blindly by a team of 3 worthy culinarians. Justin Warner and Simon Majumdar exquisitely present the food on behalf of the chefs.
Elsewhere, Animation Domination returns from dormancy, 60 Minutes talks Russia, actors award actors, Euphoria concludes another season, S.W.A.T. seeks a hacker, History loves the 80s, Showtime gets Super Pumped, Robot Chicken follows up with Yarael Poof, the Gemstones remain Righteous, BYUtv goes to Ruby and the Well, and BET remembers Sidney Poitier.
60 Minutes (CBS, 7 p.m.): Russia's invasion of Ukraine... Threats to the U.S. electric grid... Americans unjustly imprisoned abroad... How hedge funds and other financial firms have swallowed up newspapers, closing newsrooms and slashing staff.

1883 (Paramount+, 3 a.m.): SEASON FINALE. James and Margaret face a heavy decision. Shea and Thomas take bold action to help one of their own.
πΊ Gossip Girl (HBO Max, now): The original Gossip Girl isn't even 15 years old and has already been rebooted. I'll always take the original recipe of this one, which follows the lives of privileged teens (Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, etc.) on the Upper East Side of New York who can't hide from a really ruthless blogger. It can be pretty cheesy and the dramatics are a lot, but I gladly absorbed every episode of that first season.
Killing Eve (AMC+, 3 a.m. / BBC America, 8 p.m.): SEASON PREMIERE. Eve sets out for her mission to throw a dagger into the heart of The Twelve, even if it kills her. Two episode premiere for this final season. Only the first episode will air tonight on BBC America.
Malory Towers (BYUtv, 7:30 p.m.): The girls return to Malory Towers along with new girl, Ellen Wilson. A new head of form has to be elected, with Darrell, Alicia and Gwendoline all nominated for the position.

⭐ Tournament of Champions (Food Network): SEASON PREMIERE. Guy Fieri reveals the seeds and matchups to all 32 chefs before kicking off round one with 4 one-on-one sudden death battles. 4 chefs will move on to round two, and four will be going home to train for next year. I believe one of the early showdowns is Kelsey Barnard Clark v. Eric Adjepong — Top Chef: Kentucky redux! There is a one-hour preview show that aired last week and will be reaired at 7. Chefs this season include champs Maneet Chauhan and Brooke Williamson, plus Amanda Freitag, Bryan Voltaggio, Kelsey Barnard Clark, Jet Tila, Darnell Ferguson, Antonia Lofaso, Joe Sasto, and Karen Akunowicz, among many others.
