What's On Tonight (Sunday): 52 years later, the revolution is televised

Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)

I am everyday people! Here's what's on television for tonight, Sunday, February 20!

Our top pick tonight is the Academy Award-nominated music documentary Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) (ABC, 8 p.m.), which revisits the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival and its attendees, organizers, and performers, including Stevie Wonder, Mahalia Jackson, Nina Simone, The 5th Dimension, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and Sly and the Family Stone. It stands as a pinnacle moment in Black culture. However, concert footage could never find a buyer and remained unseen for decades. The doc is also available on Hulu and Disney+.

Elsewhere, go Around the World but not in one season, winter sportsballs closes, History profile Abraham Lincoln, CNN spotlights LBJ, W. Kamau Bell completes his Talk About Cosby, Epix travels to From, Daryl and Rosita join the military, John Oliver recaps Last Week Tonight, and a Creature needs some Christmastime help.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)
