What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Doctor daddy issues

Good Sam

So say we all! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, January 12!

Our top pick tonight is the latest network medical drama and the next in a long list of Good shows, Good Sam (CBS! CBS! CBS!, 10 p.m.).The premise finds a world-renowned doctor's daughter (Sophia Bush) taking the reigns of a hospital from her dad (Lucius Malfoy Jason Isaacs), but when he returns, he constantly clashes with boss daughter. He also wasn't a good dad. Meanwhile, mom is a hospital administrator. Oh, and dad is also smashing a resident (daughter's BFF) and boss daughter used to be smashing one of the residents.

Elsewhere, the Mary-Alice team-up resumes, butterflies are cool, the Legends of Tomorrow is here tonight, there's a Wonder Years bar mitzvah, Netflix still wants us to Cheer, a Conner makes the honor roll, the Price at Night is still Right

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

πŸ“Ί Battlestar Galactica (Tubi, now): Before Peacock's new/remake-follow-up BSG series is released later this year, check out the original super cheesy 1970s series with Lorne Greene helming the Galactica. Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict will fight off the Cylons for you. The 3-hour pilot cost a whopping $8 million back in 1978. As cheesy as it can be, there is some interesting social and political commentary in the show. You can also find the lousy follow-up series Galactica 1980, now simply referred to as the second season.

The Book of Boba Fett (Disney+, 3 a.m.): Episode 3 of Boba Fett trying to rule a lawless land peacefully and respectfully. Gimme a break.

Cheer (Netflix, 3 a.m.): SEASON TWO. I don't know why you would want a second season after the first season spiraled into so much bad press. It still won the Emmy, somehow. Damn Television Academy.

πŸ’² Jeopardy! (Syndicated, check local listings): Now that Amy has crossed the $1 million mark, it's on to $2 million!

πŸŽ₯ Singin' in the Rain (HBO Max, now): If snow isn't your thing, let's think back to the time of year where you can sing in the rain about love, morning, and laughter with one of the greatest musicals of all time.
