What's On Tonight (Friday): By the Pricking of My Thumb...

via Gyfcat

Many years ago, I was an aspiring stage actor and a big reason I went down that path was because of MacBeth.  My senior year of high school I was heavily into the drama program, and I landed the lead in a production of the Scottish play.  For several weeks my entire life was that play.  I would sit in AP Chemistry and work on my lines by writing them in my notebook (I did NOT do well in that class).  I grew my hair out the longest it had ever been and worked my ass off.  The result was decidedly still a high school production, but I seemed to be operating on a different level.  My parents even said to me after the show that they would support me if acting was what I wanted to do.  So, I did.  It didn't ultimately work out (my talent was never going to overcome my anxieties) but I still hold MacBeth close to my heart.  Denzel may not have the gravitas I brought to the role, but I'm sure he will be a perfectly adequate lead.

Elsewhere the fourth Hotel Transylvania film is premiering on Amazon Prime.  That by itself is not necessarily a bad sign but being the first film in the franchise not to be directed by Genndy Tartakovsky is.  We also have the final season of Ricky Gervais's surprisingly not terrible/actually very good After Life.  We also have a Ray Donovan movie premiering on Showtime.  That should make whoever used to watch Ray Donovan very happy.

Last but certainly not least, we have the series finale (FUCK NO) of The Expanse (FUCK YEAH)I have been putting off watching last week's episode so I can watch them back-to-back.  I'll be curious to see if the final books ever get made into their own series.  There was a storyline through the last season that is totally removed from everything else that has been happening that seems to be setting up those last few books.  It seems like wishful thinking on someone's part.  If Amazon really wanted more Expanse I doubt they would have produced only six episodes for the final season.  I'll keep my fingers crossed though.
