What's On Tonight (Saturday): Giada has a Dream

My Dream Kitchen

We're the young generation and we've got something to say! Here's what's on television for tonight, Saturday, December 18!

Tonight's Top Pick is about finally getting the kitchen you always wanted. My Dream Kitchen (Discovery+, 3 a.m.) follows Food Network's culinary talent Giada De Laurentiis as she renovates her home to install the kitchen she of her dreams and make it the centerpiece of her home. Of course, there will be complications. A second My Dream Kitchen follows Carla Hall on a similar journey.

Elsewhere, television movies still have CRT (Christmas romance theory), Paul Rudd isn't ready for primetime, kids and robots are friends, Discovery analyses the Supply Chain Crisis, Adult Swim enters The Animatrix, and the Black Lotus seeks revenge on all Doll Hunt participants.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

πŸŽ₯πŸŽ„  Christmas for Keeps (Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, 10 p.m.): The city of Castle Hart is one of Krampus' biggest strongholds. Located deep in his territory, the "castle" that was built there a few centuries ago — by the dark elves who objected to gremlins being brought to the continent — remains in excellent condition and is still used today for government and military purposes. The keep is a vast meeting space, and Yukon Cornelius needs to find his way in. Cornelius was one of the people who helped Frosty with the abominable snowmen problem in the Northern Reaches not long ago. They didn't stop the snowmen, but they did come to an uneasy ceasefire. Cornelius is in Castle Hart to find the (new) Abominable Snowmonster of the North, who is working with Krampus and living in the keep's upper residences, to try to find a way to peace that Krampus won't suspect. However, the situation gets more complicated when Cornelius finds out the Yuletide Yeti is also present. He's a vicious creature who has largely been running labor camps on the Coal Islands for several years. While he is still new to espionage, Cornelius will have to blend in and navigate the world of one of Krampus' more inner circles. Especially after his communications go down when Yeti starts to figure out his scheme.

πŸ“Ί The Monkees (Decades, 10:30 p.m.): Spend the weekend going on misadventures with a struggling pop group (RIP Michael Nesmith). This two-season television oddity was years ahead of its time with absurdity and slapstick plus some wall-breaking and music videos. This particular episode, "Monkees at the Circus" is a showcase of the meta-ness of the sitcom. At the circus, we occasionally hear the theme song to Circus Boy, a short-lived drama from the 1956 that starred a young Micky Dolenz. Throughout the episode, Micky says the song is familiar, but can't quite place why.
