What's On Tonight (Friday): Exit 2021 by Entering the Dimension of Imagination...

via Pinterest

We cut the cord a while ago and I can't say I regret not having cable.  One thing I do miss is the Syfy New Year's Twilight Zone marathon.  It seems silly since the whole series is on Hulu and I can watch it anytime, but there was something nice about flipping on the TV not knowing which episode would be airing and getting sucked in.  I imagine the same could be said about terrestrial radio back before every station started playing the same handful of songs every day.  I'm only listing the episodes being shown in the first 24 hours, but the marathon doesn't actually end until Jan 2.

Elsewhere we have the standard New Year's Eve celebration fare.  I won't be watching any of it, but I will give a shout out to the absurdly titled "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022 - Part 1."  Which is followed by "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022 - Part 2" and later "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022 - Part 1" and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022 - Part 2."  I'm assuming that Clark's name being removed from this thing is some sort of Seventh Seal kind of event.  Thank you ABC for staving off the apocalypse for yet another year.

Speaking of terrible titles, in college football we have the "Taxslayer Gator Bowl," "Duke's Mayo Bowl," "Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl" and the "Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl."  Good to know that college sports isn't all about money (or dignity).

Oh, and ESPN is showing the Good Year Cotton Bowl on all four of its stations.  The main feed has the regular game while ESPN2 features a "multi-angle presentation with statistics and real-time drive charts," ESPNews has "a viewing angle that allows for the 22 players on the field to be seen at all times" and ESPNU will be showing a "skyview" version that is "above the action and behind the offense on most plays, plus sounds of the game."  Later they will do the same thing with the Capital One Orange Bowl.  Assuming that COVID doesn't force everything to be cancelled.  These are truly wonderous times.
