What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Our whole universe was in a hot, dense state. Then nearly 14 billion years ago expansion started, wait!

Nova Universe Revealed

Bazinga! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, November 24!

Broadcast is almost fully out on vacation, and streaming is stepping up, but the Top Pick is the finale to Nova Universe Revealed (PBS, 9 p.m.). The conclusion ventures back to the Big Bang and the start of the universe, explaining what we can learn from knowing more about the beginning. There's plenty of animation, too. What I find most fascinating: we can see some galaxies and objects that are several billion light years away, which means they existed before this current age of stars and can truly tell us what the beginning was like, yet if you could travel there instantly, it wouldn't exist. What we see is 12+ billion years old, when visible light was still relatively new. The "cosmic Dark Ages" are beguiling.

Elsewhere, the Legends go to 1940s Seattle, Disney+ finds an arrow-er, Kevin Hart has a True StoryRescue Riders ride again, Peacock is still Saved by the Bell, Showtime locates Even More Funny Women of a Certain Age, and Caravaggio has Secrets.
