What's On Tonight (Wednesday): Gentrification vs. tacos

Gentefied

¡Hola! Here's what's on television for tonight, Wednesday, November 10!

Tonight's Top Pick is about the American dream. Based on a digital series, Gentefied (Netflix, 3 a.m.) follows three Mexican-American cousins (J.J. Soria, Karrie Martin, Carlos Santos) on different life paths, but they all converge, clash, and bond at their grandfather's (Joaquín Cosío) struggling taco shop. Their neighborhood is on the verge of gentrification, pricing them out and the local Mexican shops closing. This doesn't quite have the bite that Vida did but is essential television for the Latino experience with a POV unlike anything else. So of course Netflix will talk about how important these voices are but will still cancel it.

Elsewhere, a Big Red Dog attacks Paramount+, Nova searches for alien life, Batwoman has to protect Wayne Enterprises, Doogie goes on tour, Richard Sackler keeps OxyContin plentiful and on the market, Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga are Passing friends, and the CMAs give out awards.

(All times are Eastern. All listings are new unless otherwise stated. For more listings, visit The Futon Critic or Zap2it.)

STREAMING & EARLY PRIMETIME

Animal (Netflix, 3 a.m.): SEASON ONE. Nature docuseries about animals. Netflix really put the research and investment into the title with this one.

🎥 Clifford the Big Red Dog (Paramount+, 3 a.m.): A young girl's love for a tiny puppy named Clifford makes the dog grow to an enormous size. This is, like, a BIG big doggo.

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. (Disney+, 3 a.m.): SEASON FINALE. Lahela accepts a medic job on Walter's surf tour in Australia, but her parents are unwilling to let her leave her medical residency for the summer.

Dopesick (Hulu, midnight): Richard Sackler and Purdue work the system to prevent their drug from being reigned in, Bridget has a breakthrough in her mission, Betsy has hit rock-bottom while Finnix explores new avenues.

⭐ Gentefied (Netflix, 3 a.m.): SEASON TWO. One cousin is now a father. Another cousin is trying to break through with her art. Another has been torn between the high-tier restaurant world and the family taco shop. But most of all, Pop was taken away by ICE.

💲 Jeopardy! (Syndicated, check local listings): Ken Jennings is back as a host, not the host.

🍽️ Occasional Cooks (What's On Tonight & Pop Culture, 7 p.m.): What have you been making in your kitchen lately? Want some inspiration? Check out our weekly food thread!

🎥 Passing (Netflix, 3 a.m.): In 1920s New York City, Tessa Thompson finds her world upended when her life becomes intertwined with childhood friend Ruth Negga who's passing as white. The cast includes Bill Camp and Alexander Skarsgård.

BRIEFLYBehind the Monsters (Shudder); Judy Justice (IMDb TV, midnight); Love Island: Australia (Hulu, 3 a.m.); 💲 People Puzzler (GSN, 6 p.m.); Random Acts (BYUtv, 7 p.m.)

🕗 8 P.M. EASTERN / 🕖 7 P.M. CENTRAL

55th CMA Awards (ABC, 8 p.m.): If you are into country music, Luke Bryan hosts with Jimmie Allen, Brothers Osborne, Eric Church, Dan + Shay, Mickey Guyton, Brittney Spencer, Madeline Edwards, Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde and Blake Shelton scheduled to perform. Oh, and some awards.

Chicago Med (NBC, 8 p.m.): It's Anti-Chicago when Scott's loyalty to Med and the police department is challenged. Meanwhile, The annual random drug testing puts a doctor's career in jeopardy, and Halstead helps Hammer search for her mother.

Legends of Tomorrow (The CW, 8 p.m.): After Sara, Ava, Behrad, and Gary arrive in New York City, they track down Dr. Gwyn Davies. Astra, Spooner and Gideon are still trying to stop the Legends from using the time machine. Nate and Zari work together on the Hoover situation.

Nature (PBS, 8 p.m.): From a herd of bighorn sheep and their newborn lambs to a mother grizzly bear and her cubs, animal families struggle to survive through the seasons in North America's Rocky Mountains.🐑🐻

Batwoman (The CW, 9 p.m.): Ryan asks Sophie to accompany her to a dinner at Jada's to do recon on what her estranged mother knows about Wayne Enterprises. As the terrifying evening unfolds, Ryan witnesses another side to Marquis and her mother. Will anyone squeal like a Pyg?

Chicago Fire (NBC, 9 p.m.): Severide and Herrmann clash over Office Space. Oops, that should be "office space." But I'd love an episode with a B plot that is just two characters arguing over a movie. Boden looks at Pelham's past as he considers making him permanent. Watch out, Boden! He will take over the fire station! Brett and Ritter force Violet to confront her true feelings for Gallo.

Nova Universe Revealed (PBS, 9 p.m.): New science and discoveries made possible by ultra-sensitive telescopes and detective work transform alien planet-hunting from science fiction into fact. If anyone remembers the episode "Alien Planets Revealed" from years ago, this episode will appear similar at times, but it can also be seen as a sequel with plenty of new information. Hundreds of more planets have been discovered in the past 7-ish years.

Sistas (BET, 9 p.m.): Karen struggles to accept a harsh reality, amid her desperate attempt to rid things of the past.

CSI: Vegas (CBS, 10 p.m.): Max puts CSI on lockdown when evidence in a new murder tips Grissom and Sara to a new suspect in the crime lab. Folsom and Allie investigate a series of chilling killings at a dilapidated clown-themed hotel.

Intergalactic (Syfy, 10 p.m.): The linear series premiere for this British import that has been on Peacock for several months. "It follows a crew of fierce female convicts who break free and go on the run." Reviews weren't too positive, and there won't be a second season.

Secrets of the Dead (PBS, 10 p.m.): "A look at the science and conditions surrounding the Hindenburg explosion and 10 flaws that directly led to the 1937 disaster." Nova just did a Hindenburg episode this spring.
